About Me

Welcome! My name is Jack Tindle and I am an upcoming graduate of the University of Florida. I will earn my Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry while also completing a minor in Anthropology. Over the past four years, I have become involved in several different clubs and volunteering organizations around campus. Along with my position as a director in UF's pre-med American Medical Student Association, I actively volunteer as a coach at a local youth sports program where I teach children suffering from disabilities how to play soccer. Additionally, I am currently working as a medical assistant at a primary care office to grow my experience in the healthcare field before I apply to medical school. I am strongly interested in the fields of sports medicine and orthopedics, and I aspire to pursue a lifelong career as a physician.

Aside from my interests in science and medicine, I have a passion for studying how human societies and cultures overlap with each other to create the vibrant world we live in today. One of my favorite hobbies is cooking and trying new foods, and many of the recipes I use are inspired by cultural influences that extend beyond my own family and community. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, I was able to experience a taste of some of the diverse cultures that drive one of the largest cities in the United States. However, it wasn’t until my trip abroad to Guatemala where I truly discovered my passion for learning about different cultures and how these cultures drive our ever-changing world. As I pursue a future career in medicine, I strive to continue learning about cultures in society and specifically how cultural differences play a role in patients' access to healthcare. I hope to continue serving my community, no matter where I end up, and ultimately lead a life where I will have the opportunity to positively influence those around me.

Skills

Leadership

Learning how to be an effective leader has been arguably my largest area of growth since I began college. As a director for my pre-health organization and a head coach at a youth soccer program for children with disabilities, I am often responsible for organizing and managing large groups of people at one time. I have learned how to effectively delegate tasks to others, while also leading by example in order to achieve successful outcomes as a group.

Teamwork

Having the ability to work on a team to achieve a common goal has been one of the most important skills I have obtained while in college. One of the key examples I have found teamwork to be effective was during my medical mission trip to Guatemala, where I worked with a group of other students and the program coordinator to set up a free clinic for children in the local city.

Adaptability

As a medical assistant, I work in a fast-paced environment that requires me to be flexible and efficient to ensure that patients are not waiting in the waiting room for an excessive period of time. Learning how to be adaptable has also been crucial for my success as a student, and I have learned how being placed in uncomfortable situations can lead to the best learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom.
